About Us

 

Coastal Concerts (CoCo) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was managed and operated entirely by volunteers until December 2008 when a part-time Executive Director was brought on board.  Our Board of Directors work to bring a wide range of skills and experiences to maintain and expand our outreach.

 

For a quarter century, Coastal Concerts has worked in our communities to:

• bring world-class, internationally acclaimed chamber musicians and ensembles to our communities;

• engage classical music enthusiasts to experience the virtuosity of renowned ensembles and the blossoming talent of emerging musicians

• award music scholarships to Delmarva’s talented, dedicated students, showcasing our scholarship winners at special concerts each Season; 

• donate instruments to local schools through our “Toot Your Horn” initiative;

• conduct in-school master classes in our local schools to aspiring musicians from world-class artists; 

• bring our musicians to local Retirement Living Communitas; and 

• provide diverse populations with limited or no access to classical music collaborating with First State Community Action Agency and La Esperanza.

 

We can’t do this without help:

• We are fortunate to have a cadre of loyal patrons, donors, business sponsors and volunteers without whom it would be impossible to deliver our concerts and outreach; 

• Our funding comes from concert ticket sales, program booklet advertising, grants, including those from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Midatlantic Arts, Paul M. Angell Family Foundation, Longwood as well as generous gifts and contributions from individuals, and other corporate donors.
