Message from Our President

 

25 Years; that is a quarter of a century of world class music performances, sharing music with our community and supporting the upcoming generation of musical talent!  

 

Our success would only have been possible with those first local music lovers 25 years ago who took action and arranged for Barbara Govatos (violin) and Marcantonio Barone (piano) to perform in Lewes.  Since that concert, Coastal Concerts has continued to feature a variety of soloists and small ensembles on par with those typically found in major metropolitan areas.  We’ve grown over the years to offer so much more beyond our concert series.  We’ve added a pre-concert enrichment lecture to most of our performances.  We nurture the next generation of musicians and teachers by competitively awarding scholarships, offering in-school concerts/master classes and donating musical instruments to local schools.  We also bring in local musicians into several local after-school programs to introduce students to instruments and music that they’re most likely not familiar with.

 

I’m certain you’re as excited as we are with the artists who will perform during this special celebration Season.  We’ve planned several surprises throughout the Season….yet not another word, since I’ve been sworn to secrecy!

 

As Board President, I’m so proud of what we offer our community.  Now, as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary year, on behalf of Coastal Concerts, I would like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude -

• To our patrons, for all the ways you have come together to support us.

• To the musicians who grace our stage.

• To the many volunteers, advertisers and sponsors that dedicate their time and treasures to help create and sustain who we are and what we do.

• To our Leadership Team especially Carol Dennis, Executive Director and Monica Han, Administrative Assistant through their hard work and dedication makes everything possible.
