Since 1999, Coastal Concerts volunteers have helped to make great music understandable, enjoyable and accessible to all generations throughout central Delmarva. The Lewes-based non-profit presents five annual concerts featuring world-class soloists and small ensembles. It also sponsors free or low-cost community events such as lectures; presents school-based educational programs; and awards scholarships to talented secondary school students. Current volunteer opportunities include:
Fund-Raising Chair – Work with the board, operating committee and other volunteers to identify strategies and techniques to contact businesses, individuals, foundations and government agencies on behalf of Coastal Concerts.
Program Advertising Sales Force – Identify and contact new prospects for ads in our 2017-2018 program book. All surveys indicated that 90% of our audience supports our advertisers.
Community and Educational Outreach – Assist with outreach programs that connect area schools and communities with professional musicians and help to promote classical music appreciation. Current outreach activities include in-school programs, scholarships, free youth admission and musical instrument donations. Outreach volunteers also arrange our free Musical Perspectives programs and free R.A.V.E. (Rising Artist and Venue Expansion) community concerts.
Marketing Committee – Help to publicize concerts and other events by writing news releases and newsletters, taking photos and providing up-to-date calendar listings to print, broadcast and online publications.
Poster Distribution – Distribute posters promoting concerts and special to churches and businesses throughout Sussex County.
Production Team – Work with other volunteers to prepare the stage and audience seating for performances at the Bethel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Lewes. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, tear-down or both.
Proposal Writing – Identify potential government, corporate and private foundation donors; research and prepare proposals and follow-up reports in coordination with the treasurer, executive director and other board members.
Social Media – Maintain Coastal Concerts’ presence on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms in coordination with the board, executive director and marketing chair.
Website – Assist other volunteers and our IT partner to update the Coastal Concerts website.
