Coastal Concerts: Spanish Brass to perform Feb. 28
“Experience one of the world’s premier brass quintets playing music by Bach, traditional Spanish and Latin composers, and American jazz,” says Coastal Concerts President David Cristy. “The evening is guaranteed to take away the winter chill.”
Spanish Brass is renowned for its interpretations of great Spanish composers and the music of Latin America. These five innovative musicians have taken their music around the world since they began playing together in 1989.
They have participated in musical events in Spain, Germany, Greece, Italy, and in venues in Asia and South America.
Members Carlos Beneto Grau, Juanjo Serna Salvador, Manuel Perez Ortega, Indalecio Bonet Manrique and Sergio Finca Quiros are committed to the development and creation of new forms of music, working with both famous composers of great influence and with young people.
They set up the Academia Spanish Brass, where they give classes to musicians from all over Spain, which culminate with two international events where each year some of the most renowned international brass soloists, groups and musicians get together.
Tickets for each Coastal Concerts performance in Lewes are $20 per person. Youth between the ages of 10 and 18 are given free admission at the door with an accompanying adult.
